About the ferry traffic and timetables

Where do I find the timetable?

The timetable is unchanged and you will find it at the ferry stops, on the information page for the Marstrand ferry and on the ticket page.

Does the ferry run at night?

The ferry runs at night when ordering every 30 minutes, ordering of crossings must be made 5 minutes before departure time according to the timetable. See timetable.

About tickets

How do I buy a ticket?

You can buy a two-way ticket at www.marstrandsfarja.se or in the ferry's customer service kiosk between 07.00-16.00 Mon-Fri and 10.00-15.00 Sat-Sun. You can pay with Swish at www.marstrandsfarja.se where you can also buy period cards (annual passes, monthly passes and more).

You can also use Västtrafik's tickets for zone B (AB, B, BC or ABC) with a validity period of one day or more, these tickets are valid for crossings on the Marstrand ferry. As usual, you buy Västtrafik tickets in the To Go app or from Västtrafik's representative. Västtrafik's card must be supplemented with a card inspection in paper form that you receive from Västtrafik's representative to be valid.

How much are the tickets?

You will find current prices for two-way and season tickets at www.marstrandsfarja.se under the tab "Buy ticket".

Are the tickets personal?

Period cards are personal and require that you have a registered account at www.marstrandsfarja.se.

What happens if I travel without a valid ticket?

You must always be able to show a valid ticket to the ferry staff during the crossing from Koön to Marstrand Island. Ticket inspections occur during the year.

Will I be able to travel with Västtrafik's tickets?

Västtrafik's period cards and tickets valid in zone B from one day and upwards are valid on the ferry. Västtrafik's To Go tickets, valid as above, are scanned at the gate like other tickets. Västtrafik's period card is scanned at the ticket office to obtain a Replacement ticket that can be scanned at the gate like other tickets. Västtrafik's accompanying offer does not apply to the Marstrand ferry.

Are school cards and senior tickets valid?

Yes, school cards and senior tickets for zone B are valid.

What applies to school cards for residents of Koön?

For students who live on Koön and need a card to take the ferry to school, a School Card is granted by the school transport coordinator. The school cards are handed out by Marstrand's ferry ticket office. The card is personal and is scanned at the gate or presented to the staff on board. The school cards are valid by term. Lost school card is reported for loss and a compensation card is handed out at the ticket office.

What do I do if I have lost my period card?

The period card is available digitally in your mobile phone where you create an account. If you lose your phone or change your phone, you can reset your account yourself as long as you have the same phone number. If you change your phone number, you can receive help from Marstrand Harbour by entering your new phone number and sending a reset link. Your period card / balance is linked to your account and will not disappear.

If you lose your plastic period card, you can report the loss to the ticket office and pick up a replacement card. Your old period card will then be blocked, and your balance transferred to your replacement card.

Do students have a discount?

No students do not have a discount. On the other hand, young people between the ages of 7-19 have a reduced price (regular price SEK 34, youth price SEK 26)

Is there a discount for group trips?

No, there is no discount for group trips.

Do accompanying to function-varied travel for free?

Yes, accompanying to function-varied travels for free. Functionally varied and accompanying people use the gate to the right of the gate where the ticket is scanned and the accompanying person enters through the gate.

What is the validity period for the ticket?

Mobile two-way tickets are valid for 48 hours and is cut when scanned at the gate. Two-way tickets in paper format is valid 365 days from the date of purchase and can be saved for use at a later time. Period tickets are valid for the selected period, 30 days, 90 days or an entire year from the first day of validity to the last day of validity.

Is the ticket valid as a two-way trip?

Yes, the ticket is valid as a two-way trip and is validated at Marstrand's ferry station on Koön. When returning to Marstrand's ferry station, tickets are not checked.

Why do you have to allow cookies to be able to buy a ticket or period card?

1. When buying a ticket or period card, we must be able to verify that the payment from Swish has been processed.

2. For us to be able to link the payment and create a valid ticket that can be used on your mobile device and for us to be able to link your account and your period card to your device, you need to allow cookies. Otherwise, you cannot complete your purchase and/or present a valid ticket.

Rules for goods and vehicles

What applies to pets?

Pets travel for free but must be kept on a leash or caged. Pets must be kept outdoors on deck during the crossing.

What applies to bicycles?

It is free to bring a bicycle during the crossing. Follow the staff's instructions.

What applies to dangerous goods and/or explosive or flammable goods?

As a traveler, you can bring small amounts of hand-carried dangerous goods if they are properly and securely packed, such as petrol cans, LPG bottles and the like. You must then inform the crew and carefully follow their instructions.
