The Marstrand ferry is owned and operated by Kungälv municipality. Passenger traffic was taken over by Kungälv Municipality on the 1 January 2021. The ferry transports more than 500,000 passengers annually from Marstrand's ferry station to Marstrand Island. The traffic is operated with 2 ferries, five ferry captains and three ferry staff as well as offices and administration. The capacity of the ferries has a maximum number of passengers of 329 under normal conditions. During the peak season, from the Easter weekend to the end of September, there can be high traffic pressure and many passengers.

Travel conditions
- Tickets are valid as a two-way trip from the ferry station on Koön to Marstrand Island.
- Children under the age of 7 travel free of charge in the company of a guardian or other adult.
- Dogs and other fur animals are not allowed in the passenger compartment.
- Passengers are responsible for luggage and goods.
- Tickets must be presented at the request of the ticket inspector, ferry staff or ferry captain.
Safety on board
- Dangerous goods must be reported to the ferry captain or ferry staff and a dangerous goods certificate / table of contents must be brought.
- Bicycles and mopeds must be parked in a place designated by the ferry staff or ferry captain.
- Always follow the staff's instructions.
